My stepson Brody had a rough chilood. Well, actually, his chilood was perfect, or at least a little too good. With my wife not around, he was my pride and joy, and I doted on him, maybe too much. He fell in love with me without even understanding what was happening, and without me knowing. As he got older his teen years turned bad. His hormones started surging and his boyhood crush on his stepdaddy turned into full on sexual desire. The message he was getting from the world was that those feelings were so terribly bad that they shouldn’t even be felt, much less spoken out loud. So he didn’t, but it ate him up inside. His love for me turned into guilt, anger and hate for himself. He got self-destructive and finally ended up in court.
